Sorry it is already almost 7pm and I am just getting this posted. My day is a whole lot busier when I am at home. I left the house at 8am this morning to get Britney to Akron Children’s for the Blood draw and Bone Marrow aspiration. It was pretty eventful. The nurses had a very hard time getting the IV in. They poked her left hand 3 times and bruised the vein…leaving a puffy black-n-blue bump. They then went to the right hand, and after digging a bit, were able to get a “larger” needle in. She was very brave. The bone marrow test went well, and much quicker than expected. From start to finish, it was 10 minutes. She did well, though is pretty sore this evening. We celebrated at Olive Garden. She is extremely thankful that it is over.
Brian stayed at the house with my niece Emily. He was unhappy, because he was nauseous when I left and was unable to take his medicines. He set up so that my sister would come to help…when he heard her car come in the driveway…he took the medicines as quick as he could, so that he could impress her.
He is ornery. He played well, even was on the floor smiling with legos when I came home. They spoiled him and bought him Cici’s Pasta for lunch.
I have been working diligently trying to unpack, repack, and put things away. It has been interesting. I am trying to pack strategically for this next visit. Storage containers with drawers for the bathroom, Storage compartments for under the couch/bed, Hanging storage for the closet, a shelf for under the TV, etc. If anyone has any bright suggestions, let me know. The more organized the room is, the less stressed out I will be.
It is a personality flaw!
I have a big praise…Brian slept through the night without any belly pain. I had alittle more trouble…there was this strange snoring sound in the bed beside me…that I wasn’t used to.
This afternoon, Brian has had alittle more trouble with pain, but I am also trying to stretch out his scheduled medications to morning and night. (I don’t do well with the midnight and 2am dosages.) If I can do it twice a day, I am.
We had a delicious meal this evening delivered from a friend from our church. We were even spoiled with Dairy Queen. Mmmm, I won’t go into detail.
I am so thankful to be home. Brian cried and said he wished he could order the food he likes from the menu at the hospital…but, he’ll get used to it. It is hard for me to cater to his every wish. We have done pretty good today. He is smiling and happy.
I am waiting for the At-home-nurse to show up this evening, to assist me in the Heparin Flushes of Brian’s Broviac. (Did I tell you I got a crash course in Nurses Training?) I am so grateful that they come to the house to watch and assist me in my confidence. They should be here between 8 & 9.
Thank you , and Good Night. Jolene
So glad to hear you had a good day! I had to laugh about the snoring though…enjoy your time at home! Love and prayers.

Oh, to remember the days of heparinizing the Broviac. You will get use to it and it will only be slightly nerve-racking the more you do it. With your faith and support you will do fine. Oh, and the organized room is best for people like us. The storage containers are a must. I was the same way and I think you have it planned out better than I did. God made us the way we are for a reason: when someone cannot find something, we usually know where it is. LOL! We continue to pray for your home time and preparation for in-patient. We are praising God for how well Brian is doing after that long road you all traveled since Thanksgiving! Thank you for including a family photo recently. I went to school with Ed and was trying to put faces to my prayers. We know God knows you and He is listening & answering!
In His Hands,
Amy!

Wow! Sometimes I am exhausted just reading this blog! I’m glad Britney’s test went ok. I’m sorry to hear about all the IV trouble they had. I know how much frustration and anxiety that can cause! It’s great hearing how well Brian is doing. What a blessing to have a pain free, sleep filled night! I know how worried you were about that. What an anser to prayer! I’m sorry we haven’t been around lately. Tony and I have been trading sickness back and forth since Christmas. We can’t seem to kick it, but Trevor has been healthy- so we are thankful! We will be praying for an awesome weekend for you all. I pray you are able to really enjoy your time at home. I know you are well taken care of, but as always, please let us know if there is anything we can do.
Try not to work too hard, take some time to just relax, if that is possible! Love you all- Tony & Jen
