Sorry for the delayed post. I waited for Brian’s blood counts and this afternoon, I was able to get a massage. (More on that later.)
Brian’s counts are: WBC = 1.5, Hgb = 8.5, Plat = 341, ANC = 1.1 I am unsure why all the numbers are dropping and the Platelets keep growing. I am going to have to ask the Dr’s that in rounds tomorrow morning.
We have had a really good day. Brian was up in a chair for most of the day. He played some games, created some things with modeling clay, rode the bike for a short while and has had lots of visitors. He even had a friend from school come to see him. Boy did that bring a smile to his face. I am so thankful for parents that explain things to their children…I do not want kids to be scared of Brian, yet I know that he looks and acts completely different. Thank you so much for visiting Chris.
Britney headed home this afternoon for a Pizza/movie night with some friends from church and then she is spending the night with one of her good friends. I am so thankful for those of you who are helping with the transporting to and from the hospital etc. It is hard to follow through for Brit, when I do not have the access to get her anywhere. Thank you.
Today, Brit’s good friend Hannah was able to go home. We are so excited for her as she starts the Maintenance Phase of her treatment. It give me great hope as I see her entering this phase. I know that God is with us every step of the way…we need to keep our focus on him.
Brian agreed to eating this afternoon. McDonalds it was…6 pc chicken nuggets, fries, and drink. He consumed 2 nuggets and 1/2 of the fries…and up it came. I am unsure what options they have for him. We do not want a feeding tube. We are encouraged because he is showing signs of hunger, yet disappointment when the food doesn’t stay down. I know he should be trying soft foods…you are more than welcome to come up here and explain that to him. He wants CiCi’s pasta with their sauce. The hospital’s food doesn’t taste right to him. Right now we are waiting on the nurse to come in…we need to change the dressing on his broviac.
Now, back to the massage…WOW! It was awesome. The pain management Dr came in this morning and told me that she scheduled an appt for me this afternoon. I think I may have gotten 1 1/2 hr massage. It was at 4pm and I didn’t get back to the room until 5:45. I told the secretary down there that I didn’t know if I could walk back to Brian’s room. I feel completely refreshed!
Please keep praying for Brian’s belly. This is the main reason we are still here. I pray that the Typhylitis can heal and that he can stomach the food. I pray that the nausea can vanish and he can crave normal food, and be able to take his medicines. Thank you.
Jolene
Jolene,
I’ve been here reading your blog everyday. It’s the first thing I do when I turn on the computer. You thank everyone many times and let everyone know what a blessing they are to you and your family for there prayers etc…
I want to thank you Jolene. You don’t know what an inspiration you are to me and my family. I feel stupid when I get upset if my throat hurts, I have a sinus infection, my little girl gets the sniffles, the dog pees on the carpet or my husband doesn’t tell me he’s out of shampoo until after I come back from Wal-mart. In the past months you have shown me not to sweat the little things. God’s mercy comes in all shapes and sizes and the little things really are little things. I am so truly sorry for what you and Ed are going through, but it has taught me a form of humility and appreciation I have never known. I pray for you daily and thank the Lord for giving me a friend like you. Your right, God is good!
Love Peg
